A Very Chilly Thursday

Though the sun is shining brightly, there is a piercing south westerly wind blowing in from over central Australia. This wind is very low in humidity so any heat gained during the day is lost overnight. Expected top today is around 19 degrees. This morning was around 8 or so.

Much of yesterday was spent reformatting a Dell laptop using the Recovery Section of the laptop's hard drive. I tried using the Dell Backup feature but the laptop was so sick it would 'hang' during the backup requiring a push power button restart. Eventually I gave up and copied photo, document folders etc across to an external drive, restarted and hit F8 and within 20 minutes the laptop was back to Factory Default condition.

I put on a good anti-virus, a good firewall, Office 2003, Paint Shop Pro 12 along with Firefox and any other software required. Skype went on easily, this can sometimes be a problem to install. All up about 7 hours to do, a good hour+ was spent trying to backup before the reinstall.

The owner of the laptop was happy to have her machine back and running smoothly again.

The young family next door is continuing their lease for another 12 months. A part of the lease negotiations included raising the fence in this little section to block out their bedroom seen just over the fence. I have spent some time securing two pieces of timber to hold the extra rail required. Things are so much easier when you have the right equipment and the correct knowledge. I borrowed a hammer drill from Tony and after a few goes manged to buy the correct dyna-bolts for the job. Now it is ready for the neighbour to complete the job.

Trish spent yesterday morning at Stitchers and this morning put in an hour at the local gymnasium.
