Bird Hazards

A lovely warm to hot day today. The temp in the backyard is nudging 33 with a brisk N/W wind. This means the humidity is nowhere as high as it can be here. A great morning for a ride and I managed almost 12 kms today. I always had an eye out for swooping magpies but even though I passed the spot where I was swooped yesterday, it was easy as you go today. Except for around Duckpools Pond where this fellow wanted the footpath to himself!

About 12 months ago we had some nasty fires near where we lived. The fire came within about 100 metres of our home and and to outskirts of the Caloundra CBD area as well. It also stopped just short of a retirement home. The bush is slowly growing back now as this photo shows.

And this photo shows a fire break that has been created between the Retirement Home back fence and the scrub. This will make the residents feel a lot safer. We must be getting close to the hot weather! However cool overnight temps means the pool has trouble retaining any heat gained during the day.
